About Us
Statement of Purpose
Cary School of Music was established in 1993 to provide an easily accessible, affordable, attractive and joyful environment for the study and performance of music.
Faculty
There are currently over 40 teachers at Cary School of Music who represent some of the leading music institutions in the world, including Eastman School of Music, New England Conservatory, Carnegie Mellon, Cincinnati Conservatory, Indiana University, NC School of the Arts, Boston University, University of Michigan, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Appalachian State University, Baylor University, Tbilisi Music Conservatory, Vienna Conservatory, Emory University, North Texas State, Florida State, Furman, Brigham Young, University of Arizona, University of Alabama, and East Carolina University.
CSM faculty are proficient performers who participate in many of the North Carolina and Triangle area music organizations including the NC Symphony, Raleigh Symphony Orchestra, Durham Symphony Orchestra, North Carolina Theatre Orchestra, and the Best of Broadway South Orchestra. Several are band and strings teachers in the local public schools.
Students
There are approximately 800 students of all ability levels at CSM ranging from pre-school age through adults. Through private lessons and ensemble training with our highly experienced and qualified staff, all students are encouraged to reach their highest potential.
CSM students are represented in many ensembles in North Carolina and the Triangle area. Some of the these music organizations include Triangle Youth Philharmonic, Triangle Youth Brass Band, All-County Band, All-District Band, All-State Band, All-State Orchestra, etc.
Scheduling and Office Hours
Teachers are available various times of the day, evenings and weekends. Please call the CSM office at 919-460-0052 for more details. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm and Friday 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm. Walk-ins are welcome for information and tours. You can also contact us by e-mail at caryschoolofmusic@nc.rr.com.
Registration
New students may enroll for lessons at Cary School of Music any time of the year.
We operate on two 23-week semesters. Our Winter/Spring semester runs from January through June and the Summer/Fall semester from July through December.
If a new student enrolls mid-session, tuition is pro-rated from the date of enrollment through the end of the term.
New students should call the office at 919-460-0052 or come in to schedule lessons and complete the registration process.
